OVERVIEW
iSisters Technology Mentoring Inc. is a Canadian charitable organization that was founded in 2001 by a group of teachers who wanted to contribute to their community. We are passionate about education, technology and our community.
iSisters connects women in need with technology through mentoring.
Our programs are designed to provide learning opportunities for those who would be unable to access or afford them. We reach our target audience through strategic community-based partnerships. All of our programs are designed and delivered collaboratively with the community partner who serves the target group.
We have created five unique learning programs and built five learning centres since 2001. We have worked with pregnant teenage girls at St. Mary’s Home, Big Sisters and Little Sisters through Big Brother Big Sisters Ottawa, Inuit women with Tungasuvvingat Intuit, young mothers with Youville Centre, new Canadian women in collaboration with Immigrant Women services Ottawa and women who are homeless with Cornerstone.
Learners in our programs typically have little or no experience using technology. Most of our learners have not completed high school and are often intimidated at being in an academic classroom setting. We work with the partner to recruit, maintain and graduate learners from our programs. Our participation completion rate is over 95%. Learn more about our learners.
