From personal web sites to blogs (short for web logs), anyone can publish information to the web.
With so much information on the Net, how do you know if the content that you have found is reliable?
In this section, you will learn to apply important criteria for evaluating the content of a web site.
ACTIVITY:
Complete the online tutorial and quiz listed below. Then, using the worksheet attached, evaluate the listed web site using six (6) key criteria:
- What is the URL?
- Who wrote the page?
- What is the purpose of the page? (Does it just provide information? Is the page author trying to sell or convince you of something?)
- When was the site created / last updated?
- Where does the information come from?
- Why is the information useful (or not useful)? (Are the views balanced or biased towards one side?)
