Interview Tips and Practice
Now that you have prepared for the interview it is time to review some tips and practice.
Some general tips to keep in mind:
- Be enthusiastic
- Be honest
- Be professional by:
- dress professionally
- use formal language
- speak clearly
- sit up straight
- keep eye contact
- offer a firm handshake at the beginning and the end
- Listen carefully
- Ask smart questions
- Focus on your best qualities
- Leave the interview with them knowing that you want the job
Try and relax. The people interviewing you don’t want to trick you. They want to learn more about how great you are! Your resume got you the interview. Now, it is time to seal the deal with a great interview.
ACTIVITY:
Practice interviewing.
In pairs, you are going to become more familiar with interview questions and practice your interviewing skills.
Each person will interview, and be interviewed.
STEPS:
Pair up with someone in your class.
Write ten questions about your partner’s job. You will need to talk with your partner and use the Internet to prepare.
Interview each other using the questions you designed.
