Grab a paper or a computer mouse!

Newspapers, such as the Ottawa Citizen, often have their job ads posted on the internet as well.

There are also internet career sites, such as Monsterboard, Workopolis, and government Online Job Banks that show jobs available for various cities.

Can you find jobs that interest you in the newspaper?

ACTIVITY:

You will watch the classified ads section of the Ottawa Citizen for a week and identify job ads that relate to your area of interest. In a later activity, you will use this ad to create a resume.

STEPS:

Everyday, look at the classified ads in the Ottawa Citizen and cut out the jobs that relate to your career interests. OR

Visit working.canada.com (the online version of the Ottawa Citizen's classified ads for employment).

Pick one job ad for which you would like to prepare a resume.

Bring your selected job ad to the next class.
