Volunteer of the Year 2008
For more than 30 years, Fran has worked in the
areas of communications, media and public
relations,research and technology transfer. Fran’s work as Manager of Communications for the
Technical Research Division of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation,
and as a Senior Researcher in the Special
Needs Housing group, has given
her exceptional skills to take on a new initiative for iSisters.
With funding from the Leacross
Foundation, Fran is undertaking an Asset Mapping project that will build formal
and informal connections within the community to connect iSisters’ learners with employment programs
and resources. This asset map will be produced and made available to our learners and
partners and through our website. Fran believes the mapping exercise, and the important contacts that
will result, will be very helpful in assisting our learners on their journey to economic
independence.
Since her retirement Fran has
devoted much of her time to volunteer work with the HeronEmergency Food Centre, the Cornerstone Houses for Women, iSisters and the Karen refugee community.Fran been married to
John Harding for 41 years and they have one son, Malcolm. The Harding family are all long-time supporters and
cheerleaders for iSisters.
