FRAN HARDING

Community Liaison,

Asset Maping Project

Volunteer of the Year 2008

For more than 30 years, Fran has worked in the areas of communications, media and public relations, research and technology transfer. Fran’s work as Manager of Communications for the Technical Research Division of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and as a Senior Researcher in the Special

Needs Housing group, has given her exceptional skills to take on a new initiative for iSisters.

With funding from the Leacross Foundation, Fran is undertaking an Asset Mapping project that will build formal and informal connections within the community to connect iSisters’ learners with employment programs and resources. This asset map will be produced and made available to our learners and partners and through our website.  Fran believes the mapping exercise, and the important contacts that will result, will be very helpful in assisting our learners on their journey to economic independence.

Since her retirement Fran has devoted much of her time to volunteer work with the HeronEmergency Food Centre, the Cornerstone Houses for Women, iSisters and the Karen refugee  community.Fran been married to John Harding for 41 years and they have one son, Malcolm. The Harding family are all long-time supporters and cheerleaders for iSisters.
