Patricia den Boer, B.J., is management consultant specializing in organizational communication planning and measurement and change communication management strategies. She has built her business on a foundation of providing solid communications advice to companies and public sector organizations on how to create happier, healthier and more productive workplaces by involving stakeholders as partners in business planning and operations.
Patricia has over 19 years' experience working both as a professional journalist in print, broadcast and trade journalism, and a communications specialist employed in the public sector. Patricia founded her business in 1995 to focus on helping organizations improve communications systems, messages and processes by aligning communication efforts and, therefore, better supporting corporate vision and goals.
In 1997, she diversified her business by spinning off a division of her consultancy that focuses on providing clients with top quality written, edited and graphics material for online and print media - for both specialized and general audiences. It is through this division that she co-founded Ottawa's only woman's quarterly magazine, City Woman. Launched in 2000, City Woman's aim to help provide women in the most demanding years of their lives with useful, local information that will help them better juggle the demands of their hectic lives. As founding Editor-in-Chief, Patricia assumed all management and strategic planning responsibilities for the editorial department.
Patricia holds an Honours Bachelor Degree in Journalism from Carleton University. She sits on the Boards of the Women's Bureau Network of Ottawa and iSisters Technology Mentoring. She is a founding member of the Women's Educational Business Breakfast (WEBB), a west-end based professional women's networking group, a past Vice-President of Communications for the American Marketing Association/Ottawa Chapter and a strong supporter of new business start-ups.
Patricia is married and lives in the west-end of Ottawa with her husband, Lindsay.
Patricia has been a strong supporter of many city-wide initiatives that address the professional development needs of women in our community. In her role as Communciations Director on the iSisters Board of Directors, a position she has held since January 2004, Patricia continues to further her personal goal of providing information and resources to women so they can improve their lives.
